2012

The teaser trailer starts with a non dietetic sound of a swarm of bees followed by the scene of what seems to be a monk running towards a building, very different from the beginning of the full trailer where the scenes are more focused on Mother Nature freak accidents. The beginning of the full trailer starts with a scene of an historical building followed by the words “they warned us” which is then followed by scenes of TV pictures and a voiceover of a news reporter, the scenes freak accidents of mother nature such as fireballs falling from the sky is seen, the crumbling of statue of Jesus overlooking Rio signifying the danger posed to the world as the saviour of the world is crumbling to pieces, people screaming, then the word “from Roland Emmerich” followed by more scenes of freak accidents of mother nature such as land tipping into the sea, buildings collapsing; there are also may scenes of aeroplanes flying which will seem the only logical gateway from such freak accidents there is also a scene which was seen in the teaser trailer where the sea overwhelms the mountain peak, later opera music is added to the latter part of the sequence, the end of the sequence is very much similar to the end of the teaser trailer where “FIND OUT THE TRUTH SEARCH:2012” is superimposed on a black background, the only main difference is that in trailer there is a voiceover reading the words; this raises the anticipation of the film even more as there is some rumours circulating around the year 2012 which many saying that this is when the world will end. The main differences between the two trailer is that there are many jump cuts of extracts of the film in the longer trailer while in the teaser trailer the sequence is focused on one freak accident, there is no voices heard in the teaser which will add some mystery and suspense, evidently the trailer is longer than the teaser, more dynamism added in the longer trailer thanks to the scenes of chaos and trouble caused by freak events of the Earth. The teaser trailer focus on one scene but goes more in depth with that particular scene than it did in the standard trailer, the standards trailer looks at many other scenes which features in the film; so from this we are able to say that the teaser was suppose to get the audience to come to grips with the whole 2012 idea, and the standard trailer was suppose to an opportunity to fully grasp and understand the seriousness of the 2012 pandemic, which was successfully done.

Spiderman 3 teaser trailer

Spiderman 3 trailer
The sequence start with a slow tempo type of music where the whole screen is red, this is probably used for the Spiderman theme. Then the words “how long?” comes on the screen this, a very good advertising tool used here as there had been much hype and anticipation prior to the release of the film but the words “can any man fight darkness” then a sort of black liquid overwhelms the red screen meaning that the theme of darkness is probably a very dominant theme in this teaser trailer. The camera then zooms out from the black spider sign suit at this time a thriller type of music is heard, when the camera zooms out Spiderman is on a high pinnacle the setting is dark and raining this could be pathetic fallacy emphasising more on the gloom and darkness that revolves around Spiderman, then there are jump cuts of presumably Peters closest friend each person digetically saying something which can be put together to make this sentence: “Parker, what’s happening to you? I don’t know but I have to stop it” this lay more importance on the “darkness” that is surrounding Spiderman life, the music tempo start to get faster, the credits are superimposed on a black background again relating to the theme darkness, then the sequence features jump cuts of Spiderman gliding, sandman throwing a fist, Spiderman at the train tracks, peter parker kissing, Spiderman enemies trying to kill him, the black Spiderman swinging and peter Parker ripping his suit to reveal the black Spiderman, this all shown in the jump cuts this shows that the film has much to offer in the sense of secret, vengeance, love and the most important darkness. The camera then zooms out and music stop this is a good effect as the audience is able to take in the scene of an upside down black suited Spiderman looking into a reflection of the red Spiderman this gives the impression to the viewer that peter parker may have to make the choice between right represented as the red Spiderman or wrong represented as the black Spiderman. The final scene shows 3 signifying that this is the final instalment of the Spiderman trilogy, it also shows the date is will be released. The teaser would entice the audince to view the film at the cinema thanks to the various 'action' clips shown, the clips also show famous Spiderman nemisis, which would create hype. The film also features a lot of character which were from the previous Spiderman films, therefore this would encourage the audience to watch the film since they already know the background information of the whole spiderman story. This teaser entices the viwers to watch the film in the cinemas since this teaser does not feature any clips from the actual film which creates a 'buzz' around the film. Also when the darkness flows over the red background, it does leave some clues, that the film could feature Spiderman famous nemesis but this isn't cofirmed by any pictures, again raising speculation. the only clues are the words which is a way to entice viewers to look out for updates to have a more concrete answer on the plot of the film.
