Editing first session

We started editing but this was a bit difficult because we were using the MacBook Pro which none of my group members have used before. We were experimenting with the new Mac for about half an hour. To help us a bit my teacher showed us iMovie tutorials which was very beneficial to our group.

Here is a example of an iMovie tutorial.

From today's lesson we got to understand and how to use new editing software

Third Day of Filming

Stockwell Pictures

Above are photographic images of the location we used for the day's filming.

Location: in a house (stockwell)

Roles:
Nicholas: Actor
Usman: actor, cameraman
Mark: cameraman, photgrapher

My group have now finished filming all the scenes for our teaser trailer, the final scene we filmed was inside Nicholas's house, where Nicholas (Lee) is being stalked around the house by Usman (Cain). My group came up with many ideas prior to the filming but came up with more ideas while filming at Nicholas's house as they were able to view their filming. Unfortunately I was unable to help out my team as I had lesson during the time of filming. They did tell me some of the shots they took; one shot that sounded interested was a mid angle shot of Nicholas sitting on a couch and Usman walks behind him unnoticed which created the theme mystery and cunningness around our character Cain. Also whilst filming, there was a use of a high angle shot, where we saw Nicholas walking into his estate being watched by Cain, which create a theme of vulnerability around Nicholas.

FINALLY!!!

The Name of our film has been decided. Allocating a name for our film was a bit difficult we came up with:

-Echo of Silence: which was our first choice then we relized that the title had really little to do with our film, when you mention "echo of Silence" it sounds like a film involveing sophisticated sound systems and bugging machines and our film did not involve these props.

-Red Ribbon: This was also a good title but we then relized this won't attract the audience as it sounds a bit dull.

-Silent Pursuit: This title again didn't match with the plot of our film.

But now we have came up with the title 'Silent Footsteps' as it is very relevant to the plot of our film. We have decided on the title, our main focus now is on getting the filming finished and starting on the magazine cover and poster.

Please Leave comments.

Clothes I wore on the day of filming

My costume which i wore for the teaser trailer included: a black shirt, Black tie, Black Trousers, Black Jumper and a black jacket. I wore this to represent me as a successful young man coming from work. Using the different type of conventions i.e. the work clothes, we showed a different representation of a young black man from that of the media; sometimes the media portrays young people as yobs and thugs but in our teaser trailer I was portrayed as a young successful black man.

Second day of filming

Here are the pictures on the locations featuring Tom (Mark)

Southside Carpark Pictures

Location:Wandsworth Southside Car Park

Roles:
Nicholas: Cameraman
Mark: Actor, Photographer
Usman: Actor

Here are photographic images of the location which would be featured in Mark's scenes

My group started the second phase of filming, unfortunately I couldn't help out in the filming because I was preparing for January exams.

But my group gave me a recap of the days events:
Today filming concentrated on Tom (Mark Ahmed) being followed by Lucifer (Usman Sheikh). The filming venue was Southside car park, this was known as a good location as the location looked dark as there was a balance from the ambient lighting from outside and the artificial lighting from inside, giving us that thriller effect. My group took different types of shots e.g. close up, low angle shot, long shot; From my previous research on teasers, many thrillers/horrors had shown different shots so we knew that we needed to take a diverse range of shots for our teaser to look realistic.

1st Day of filiming

Tooting Pictures

Above is a photographic image of the location we used for the first day of filming

Location: Chetwode Road, Holdemesse Road and Trinity Cresent (Tooting)

Roles:
Sam: Actor
Mark: Camera man, Photographer
Nicholas: Camera man
Usman: Actor

Recently we started filming for our teaser trailer. We filmed my sequence where I catch sightings of what seems to be a ghostly serial killer (usman Sheikh). Weather conditions was not the best but I think it added that thriller theme to our filming. we used numerous camera shots e.g. mid shot, long shot, over the shoulder shot and a close up shot, the many shots we took will enhanced the quality of our teaser which will make editing easier for us. We are hoping to film Mark's scenes tomorrow. This was a perfect location since this was a quiet road meaning, there would be very little interruptions. One thing I have valued of my group is our organisation and our time management; this has helped us get our filming done aT the most convenient times for us.

Saw VI

This is the teaser trailer for the latest Installment in the Saw franchise, the Saw VI teaser trailer had a very different format from the previous Saw Teasers; where we would see the infamous guy wearing a mask talking to the audience but this teaser consists of numerous clips from the new film, the director of the teaser took a very different approach this may signify that the film itself is going to be much different from its predecessors but the concepts will be the same i.e. fear, terror and death. Thanks for reading please Comment.

04/12/2009

Today in our Media lesson; me and Mark looked at potential ideas for our film posters and magazines, we took some ideas from other forms of media and we came up with some good concepts for our poster and magazine, which will need to be fed back to the other members of the group. We also came up with another title for our film, we relized that "echo of silence" (which was the first choice title for our film) is more approriate for a film which consists of sophisticated sound bugs and sound equipment, so Mark came up with the title 'Silent footstep' which sounded really good but again we will need to feed back to the other members of the group. We are planning to film tomorrow so hopefully by the end of Next week we will have the filming sorted.

Batman Begins

This is the Batman begins teaser where it does feature clips of the film which seems to be more focused on the beginning of the Batman than his enemies, thus the name Batman Begins. The teaser uses various clips from the film, this would entice people to view the film in cinema, allowing the audience to see clips has a strong visual impact, this also creates hype and speculation. Toward the end of the sequence we see flash images of Batman, which again does demonstrate what teasers are suppose to do; not to reveal too much.In this case it was the image of Batman, becuase the audince didn't catch a clear image of Batman, this would put the audince in suspense and make them look out vigilantly for the next trailer, which would hopefully reveal more of the plot and of Batman.

Dark Knight Trailer

This is the Dark Knbight Teaser trailer which does not feature any footage from the film but we do hear actor's voices. The first half of the sequence starts with a dialogue bewtween Bruce and his bulter, where they talk about a mob who have crossed the line, we see flashes of light in the sequence. Bruce's bulter then warns him of a man "who they (the mob) do not fully understand". At that time it is not clear who the Bulter is talking about but then we are given a big clue when another voiceover is introduced. At the introduction of the additional voice we see a full picture of the batman sign, which then crumbles to pieces as this voice starts to talk about people dying, this culd signfy that this film may see the end of Batman and this voice could reveal the identity of the person who will put the end to Batman. Although we do not see an image of the last person talking, the audience could easily identify him as The Joker due the evil but daunting laugh which we hear at 0:45, we then see a Joker card re-instating who the last voice belonged to. The last two scenes show the title of the film and release date. This was done since the film is a highly anticpated film, so it was very likely that the date would be shown.

Terminator 4 Teaser Trailer

This film is a continuation from the previous Terminator Film, The Teaser shows the names of stars and some clips from the upcoming film. The teaser trailer begins with a non-diegetic voiceover, which portrays a voice of vigilance but also of disapointment, we can clearly identify this by the words used "this isn't the futre my mother warned me about... and in this future I don't know if we can win." We then see various scences which highlights the theme of destruction and danger, the cuts are also by the sounds breakage in transmission, which does highlights that this film is a sci-fi film. At 0:40 we hear drums being intoduced in the sequence which get the audience adrnaline pumping with excitement, this was probably the reason of the drums being inseted. We then see "THE END BEGINS" in three seperate black screens for each word which gives the audince enough time to take in these words. The font used in the teaser is of bruised metallic, which does highlight the theme of war and probabaly technology. The Final scene shows an individual turn around to be faced with a robot, which may reveal who the battle will be between, in this case Robots and Humans.

Toy Story teaser

As you can see Toy Story 1 and 2 were hugely successful receiving many positive reviews. The teaser trailer re-introduces all the characters from the previous films.

The teaser trailer starts with a close up of the green soldiers, this close up was used to show that these green soldiers are actually 'bigger' than what the human eyes perceive, in other words they are seen in previous film that they play big roles despite their small stature, but then their size is highly emphasised when the next shot shows Woody's long legs, next to the small green soldiers. The next shots shows various characters' from the previous Toy Story installments. We see Woody as the overseer of the Toy Story characters. Funny with this trailer is that we see character's attributes portrayed. Take for example Rex who is a warm hearted dinosaur but he is mentally slow, we realize this when Rex says "I'm so excited" then Woody says that "you are going the wrong way" again reinstating that Woody is there to demonstrate order as the Helmer. In the same trailer we see Mrs and Mr patotoe bickering which was often illustrated in the previous Toy Story films. We see Hamm being pulled in a cart by a solider, highlighting that Hamm is quite a lazy toy. The next shot shows the title "Toy Story 3" which is portrayed by the various materials which was carried by the Toys, the final products does look rather unprofessional, but then we again see Woody's character as a person who encourages, he congratulates the toys on their work. He then bumps into Buzz who shows off his Toy Story 3 sign which look quite exquisite, where all the toys are at awe, but Woody is reluctant to congratulate Buzz, actually the first thing Woody says is of criticism of Buzz's work, which highlights there is a rivalry between Buzz and Woody nevertheless the rivals are actually good friends, this is highlighted in the final scene, where Buzz encourages Woody to put up the letters which read June 18 2010, which is the release date we then see an 'updated' version of the release date which was stimulated by Buzz, it seems that whatever Woody does, Buzz performs the same task in such sophistication and awe. However these two characters are very close in terms of friends.

2012

The teaser trailer starts with a non dietetic sound of a swarm of bees followed by the scene of what seems to be a monk running towards a building, very different from the beginning of the full trailer where the scenes are more focused on Mother Nature freak accidents. The beginning of the full trailer starts with a scene of an historical building followed by the words “they warned us” which is then followed by scenes of TV pictures and a voiceover of a news reporter, the scenes freak accidents of mother nature such as fireballs falling from the sky is seen, the crumbling of statue of Jesus overlooking Rio signifying the danger posed to the world as the saviour of the world is crumbling to pieces, people screaming, then the word “from Roland Emmerich” followed by more scenes of freak accidents of mother nature such as land tipping into the sea, buildings collapsing; there are also may scenes of aeroplanes flying which will seem the only logical gateway from such freak accidents there is also a scene which was seen in the teaser trailer where the sea overwhelms the mountain peak, later opera music is added to the latter part of the sequence, the end of the sequence is very much similar to the end of the teaser trailer where “FIND OUT THE TRUTH SEARCH:2012” is superimposed on a black background, the only main difference is that in trailer there is a voiceover reading the words; this raises the anticipation of the film even more as there is some rumours circulating around the year 2012 which many saying that this is when the world will end. The main differences between the two trailer is that there are many jump cuts of extracts of the film in the longer trailer while in the teaser trailer the sequence is focused on one freak accident, there is no voices heard in the teaser which will add some mystery and suspense, evidently the trailer is longer than the teaser, more dynamism added in the longer trailer thanks to the scenes of chaos and trouble caused by freak events of the Earth. The teaser trailer focus on one scene but goes more in depth with that particular scene than it did in the standard trailer, the standards trailer looks at many other scenes which features in the film; so from this we are able to say that the teaser was suppose to get the audience to come to grips with the whole 2012 idea, and the standard trailer was suppose to an opportunity to fully grasp and understand the seriousness of the 2012 pandemic, which was successfully done.

Spiderman 3 teaser trailer

Spiderman 3 trailer
The sequence start with a slow tempo type of music where the whole screen is red, this is probably used for the Spiderman theme. Then the words “how long?” comes on the screen this, a very good advertising tool used here as there had been much hype and anticipation prior to the release of the film but the words “can any man fight darkness” then a sort of black liquid overwhelms the red screen meaning that the theme of darkness is probably a very dominant theme in this teaser trailer. The camera then zooms out from the black spider sign suit at this time a thriller type of music is heard, when the camera zooms out Spiderman is on a high pinnacle the setting is dark and raining this could be pathetic fallacy emphasising more on the gloom and darkness that revolves around Spiderman, then there are jump cuts of presumably Peters closest friend each person digetically saying something which can be put together to make this sentence: “Parker, what’s happening to you? I don’t know but I have to stop it” this lay more importance on the “darkness” that is surrounding Spiderman life, the music tempo start to get faster, the credits are superimposed on a black background again relating to the theme darkness, then the sequence features jump cuts of Spiderman gliding, sandman throwing a fist, Spiderman at the train tracks, peter parker kissing, Spiderman enemies trying to kill him, the black Spiderman swinging and peter Parker ripping his suit to reveal the black Spiderman, this all shown in the jump cuts this shows that the film has much to offer in the sense of secret, vengeance, love and the most important darkness. The camera then zooms out and music stop this is a good effect as the audience is able to take in the scene of an upside down black suited Spiderman looking into a reflection of the red Spiderman this gives the impression to the viewer that peter parker may have to make the choice between right represented as the red Spiderman or wrong represented as the black Spiderman. The final scene shows 3 signifying that this is the final instalment of the Spiderman trilogy, it also shows the date is will be released. The teaser would entice the audince to view the film at the cinema thanks to the various 'action' clips shown, the clips also show famous Spiderman nemisis, which would create hype. The film also features a lot of character which were from the previous Spiderman films, therefore this would encourage the audience to watch the film since they already know the background information of the whole spiderman story. This teaser entices the viwers to watch the film in the cinemas since this teaser does not feature any clips from the actual film which creates a 'buzz' around the film. Also when the darkness flows over the red background, it does leave some clues, that the film could feature Spiderman famous nemesis but this isn't cofirmed by any pictures, again raising speculation. the only clues are the words which is a way to entice viewers to look out for updates to have a more concrete answer on the plot of the film.
